About Jaunt Goods
Jaunt Goods started with a simple frustration: most gear advice online is written for people planning a two-week expedition, when most of us are actually packing for two days. A weekend in a city with brutal cobblestones. A day hike that turns into six hours on mixed terrain. A beach town where the walk from the car park matters as much as the walk on the sand.
I'm Rowan Hale, and I edit this site. The premise is narrow on purpose: shoes and the small gear around them, for short trips. No mountaineering boots, no gear-shed flexing — just what works when the trip is measured in hours and days, and every pair has to earn its place in the bag.
How we research
We don't run a test lab, and we don't pretend to. Every comparison on this site is built from three sources, used together:
- Published specifications — manufacturer spec sheets for weight, drop, stack height, materials, and waterproofing construction.
- Retail listings — how the shoe is actually sized, priced, and described at the retailers that stock it.
- Aggregated owner feedback — patterns across large numbers of verified buyer reviews, weighted toward issues that repeat across many reviewers.
When a claim can't be traced to one of those sources, it doesn't go on the site. When we can't verify a rating, we leave the rating out entirely. Where our knowledge runs out — how a shoe feels after 300 km, how the mesh ages — we say so instead of filling the gap with invented experience.
What this site is not
It is not a deals site, and it doesn't track coupons or discounts. It doesn't accept payment for placement in any comparison. The only revenue is affiliate commissions, disclosed on every page where they apply, and they don't change what we recommend.
